One very good reason for preferring natural or holistic therapies over phamaceutical remedies is to bypass the side effects of such drugs, which appear to becoming a real problem if recent new stories are anything to go by. Just in the last 24 hours alone, the following new stories about problems with pharmaceutical drugs have appeared on the news streams on the web:
- Faulty Implants, Dodgy Drugs and a Toothless Watchdog That’s Failing Patients
- FDA Announces 10 Drugs With Severe Birth Defect Warnings
- Current pharmaceutical therapies often have undesirable side-effects
- Pradaxa Raising Heart Attack Risk
- Johnson & Johnson Sued On Safety Claims for Anti-Psychotic Drug
That’s five horror stories in just one day. It makes one wonder if there are any pharmaceutical drugs that don’t have harmful effects? In any case, they are expensive and they act as a foreign body in the body’s system as they try to bludgeon the body into changing its behaviour.
Holistic and natural therapies, on the other hand, work with the body in a harmonious way by only using products from Nature that the body recognises, like herbs, essence oils and flower remedies, and mind-body-spirit therapists see and treat the patient as a whole person rather than just a list of symptoms.
In contrast, orthodox medical surgeons often act like car mechanics in removing the offending part, rather than trying to dig deeper, to find out why that part isn’t working properly, as holistic health practitioners do. Often, with regular surgeons and physicians, they are treating the symptom rather than rooting out the cause. And that’s when you do finally get to the head of the waiting list.
Nowadays, we’re lucky if we can get in to see our doctors without a three week wait.
Some of them are little more than licensed drug pushers who rely on books like MIMs to compare your symptoms with the latest pills that they’re being incentivised to prescribe by the pharmaceutical companies.
So given all of the above, you’d think the complementary health market would be booming. Well, it sort of is. The holistic health therapy market is booming and in America is worth 34 billion a year. But the vast majority still prefer to rely on their physicians and a tottering national health system that these days, can barely cope with the demand.
The hesitancy on the part of newbies to try alternative means, though, is quite understandable. The whole world of holistic health therapies can seem a little daunting, especially when for anyone not used to taking responsibility for finding their own remedies and treatments. After all, how are they are going to be able to tel the real doctors from the Witch Doctors?
But that’s where The Therapy Book comes in, because it is easily searchable, uses plain language and is organised into easy-to-digest bite-sized chunks, so you will soon know,
- what each therapy is and how each therapy works
- what each therapy can be used for
- whether the therapy is effective
- whether there are any known side effects
- where to find further information on each therapy
This e-book is an invaluable tool for the complementary therapist who wishes to widen their knowledge and expertise in the field of alternative health, as well as a simple means for continuous professional development.
