The Roman Catholic Church has spent a lot of time arguing over whether Mary Magdalene really was a prostitute. I can tell them that she was, but that her mythic character was developed from the honoured tradition of the sacred whore whose role is vital in producing the avatar of the age.
Unfortunately, though, because this occult understanding has been hidden from the masses, in my view it has given rise to the Madonna/Whore complex, which some men suffer from when they are rooted in base consciousness, and cannot see both the the Madonna (Virgin Mary) and Sacred Whore (Mary Magdalene) in the same woman and therefore need different partners to serve those different needs.
The word ‘occult’ just means ‘hidden’. Here’s the occult understanding that many are missing:
On the zodiac found coded into the gospels, Virgo is represented by the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene. In the ancient Mesopotamian world, the word ‘virgin’ did not mean a person who had not yet had sex; it meant a woman who had had sex with a god or Holy Spirit, which is the role of the hierodule or sacred temple prostitute. Mythic heroes, like sun gods, can only be born to a coupling between a human and a god or goddess.
The impregnating god in the case of the Virgin Mary was the winged messenger, Gabriel, the equivalent of the Roman Mercury or the Greeks’ wing-footed Hermes. Mercury is the governing planet of the sign of Virgo. He was known to the Celts as Gwyddion, to the Saxons as Woden and to the Vikings as Odin.
When the fruit of the union, Jesus, becomes an adult, he meets the sacred prostitute Mary of the Magdala, and is initiated by her into the Mysteries, which is the final fire initiation.

Later on, we find three Marys – Mary Magdalene, Mary the Virgin and Mary of Cleophas – who keep vigil at the foot of the cross during the crucifixion. This trio represents the traditional triple-faced goddess of Maiden, Mother and Matriarch, symbolising the three phases of the Moon – New Moon, Full Moon and Dark Moon.
But for those who suffer from the Madonna/Whore complex, it is as if Virgo is split in half, in their subconscious minds, leading to so-called Cluster B behaviourial disorders such as bipolar, narcissism, border line and other kinds of psychopathy.
